Wike Orders Probe into Abuja Building Collapse, Five Dead

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has ordered a full investigation into a building collapse that occurred in Abuja, claiming five lives and leaving several others injured over the weekend. The incident involved a three-story building that collapsed on Saturday morning in the Durumi 3 area near Gudu Market.

Following the collapse, Wike visited the scene on Monday and described the incident as deeply unfortunate. He confirmed that enforcement actions have already begun, including the arrest of individuals linked to the project.

Preliminary reports indicate multiple fatalities and severe injuries among occupants. The Federal Capital Territory Administration has sealed off the construction site and is taking further enforcement measures, including legal action against those connected to the construction.

Wike emphasized the importance of adhering to regulatory procedures and conducting proper soil tests to prevent such disasters, noting that lapses often contribute to structural failures.
