Wike Accuses Lawyers of Misadvising Rivers Governor Fubara

During his monthly media chat in Abuja, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, addressed the political crisis in Rivers State, alleging that external interests sought to control the state for financial gain. Wike claimed that senior lawyers misadvised Governor Siminalayi Fubara, encouraging him to resist Wike's political camp due to their own interests.

He stated that these lawyers, some of whom were Senior Advocates of Nigeria, provided Fubara with incorrect legal advice and sought to influence him for personal gain. Wike expressed that this political turmoil deprived Fubara of the opportunity to seek a second term, criticizing the governor for not adhering to the political structure that facilitated his rise to power.

Wike recounted his own challenges as governor, including inheriting a poorly equipped administration, and emphasized the importance of building on the foundation he established to compete with Lagos.
