Wike Plans Major Makeover for Abandoned Life Camp Park

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), announced plans to redevelop the neglected Life Camp park into a modern leisure and sports centre. This initiative is part of the FCT Administration’s broader urban renewal programme, which has already seen the successful remodelling of the Abuja City Gate.

Wike emphasized the importance of investing in green spaces and recreational facilities to improve the quality of life for residents. He noted that the Life Camp park had been overlooked despite its potential, calling it a missed opportunity for previous administrations.

The FCT Administration has been directed to begin work on a new design for the park, which will be treated as an emergency project to expedite its completion. Reputable firms will be invited to submit designs that meet international standards.

Additionally, Wike announced plans for an annual New Year fireworks display at the Abuja City Gate, aiming to position Abuja as a vibrant destination for public celebrations.
