Ilia Malinin Aims for World Championship Redemption

Ilia Malinin, a prominent figure skater, is setting his sights on the upcoming ISU World Figure Skating Championships scheduled for March 23-29, 2024, in Prague, Czechia. He aims to achieve a third consecutive world title, a feat not accomplished by his American counterpart Nathan Chen since 2018.

Malinin, who finished eighth in the men's singles event during his Olympic debut, expressed a desire for redemption and a better understanding of the pressures of competition. He acknowledged the importance of learning from his Olympic experience, stating he did not fully grasp the pressure he faced.

Malinin will compete against his longtime friend and newly crowned Olympic champion Mikhail Shaidorov, who has received significant recognition for his achievements. Malinin emphasized the camaraderie among athletes, noting that despite perceived rivalries, they support each other in their endeavors.
