Woman Arrested for Stealing Two Infants in Delta

A woman was arrested in Delta for allegedly stealing two infants in two separate incidents. According to the Delta State Police Command spokesperson, Bright Edaf, the suspect first approached an 18-year-old mother with a three-month-old baby, claiming she wanted to help care for the child.

After spending time with the mother, the suspect disappeared with the infant. In the second incident, the suspect visited a groundnut seller under the pretense of buying groundnuts and tricked the seller's younger sister into fetching water while she held the baby.

The suspect fled with the child but was later apprehended. During police interviews, the suspect admitted to taking the babies, claiming she acted out of desperation after losing twins during childbirth and that her husband was unaware of the deaths.

The police recovered the infants safely, and the suspect has been charged in court following the conclusion of the investigation.
