Ogun Woman Delivers Quadruplets, Seeks Government Aid

Mufiat Olateju, a 40-year-old woman from Ogun State, delivered quadruplets at the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta on Wednesday. Initially, medical scans did not indicate that she was carrying multiple babies, leading to a surprise for the family.

Olateju, who is already a mother of five, is appealing for government support to care for her newborns, as her husband, Oluwaseun Olateju, noted that managing the care of four additional children is extremely challenging without assistance. The delivery occurred at 32 weeks, and while the mother is in stable condition, the quadruplets require specialized care in the nursery unit due to their premature birth.

Dr. Taofeek Ogunfunmilayo, who monitored the delivery, stated that the mother was not registered for antenatal care, which complicated the situation.

The family is now seeking help from the government and the public to manage the financial burden of medical bills and childcare.
