Kano Woman Dies After Delivering Quintuplets, State Responds

Hafsat, a woman who recently delivered quintuplets via caesarean section at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, has passed away at a hospital in Kano around 1:00 AM on Thursday. Her husband, Salisu Nafiu, a tricycle rider, confirmed her death but did not provide further details regarding the circumstances.

Despite the tragedy, the quintuplets, consisting of three boys and two girls, are alive and receiving medical care. Salisu expressed gratitude for the successful delivery, noting that this was Hafsat's ninth childbirth.

Medical personnel at the hospital are giving special attention to the newborns to ensure their well-being. In response to this situation, the Kano State Government announced that it will take full responsibility for the healthcare of the quintuplets, with the Ministry of Health intervening as part of efforts to strengthen maternal and child healthcare and reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.
