Women Affairs Minister and IGP Collaborate on Gender Issues

On December 15, 2025, in Abuja, Nigeria, Women Affairs Minister Sulaiman Ibrahim and Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu convened to strengthen collaboration on inclusive policing. Ibrahim commended Disu's visit and highlighted the need for leadership opportunities for women within the Nigeria Police Force, including the appointment of women to positions such as Commissioner of Police and Deputy Inspector General.

She pledged support for training personnel focused on gender issues to enhance the capacity of the police in gender-responsive policing. The minister also referenced the United Nations Security Council Resolution on Women, Peace, and Security, which aims to integrate women's roles in conflict prevention and peacebuilding from 2024 to 2028.

Disu acknowledged the evolving nature of the Nigeria Police Force and emphasized the importance of inclusivity, aligning with President Bola Tinubu's administration's commitment to strengthening the force's collaborative efforts.
