Nigeria's Ports Ranked Among World's Top 20 Improvements

The World Bank has listed Nigeria's Tincan Island Port and Apapa Port among the top 20 improved ports globally in its 2025 Port Performance Index (CPPI) report. The report evaluates ports based on vessel turnaround time and operational efficiency, with Tincan Island Port ranking 10th and Apapa Port 12th in global improvements from 2020 to 2025.

Tincan Island Port improved its CPPI score from 42 to 68, while Apapa Port saw a rise from 61 to 96. This recognition highlights Nigeria's significant progress in enhancing port efficiency and cargo handling operations, outperforming several major global ports.

The Nigerian Port Authority (NPA), led by Managing Director Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, has been instrumental in this achievement, supported by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister Adegboyega Oyetola.

The improvements are expected to bolster Nigeria's economy, contributing to a projected trade surplus of ₦7.54 trillion in the first quarter of 2024.
