Riyad Mahrez Retires from International Football

Riyad Mahrez, a 35-year-old winger, has confirmed his retirement from international football after Algeria's elimination from the World Cup 2026. The announcement came following Algeria's 2-0 defeat to Switzerland in the round of 32 fixtures.

Mahrez has had a notable career with the Algeria National Football Team, scoring 40 goals and providing 45 assists across 119 caps. He played a significant role in Algeria's triumph at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), helping the team secure its second continental title.

Moving forward, Mahrez will focus on his club career, currently playing for Al Ahli after his time with Manchester City.
