CAF President: World Cup Incomplete Without Nigeria

Patrice Motsepe, the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), expressed that a World Cup without Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions is incomplete. He noted that Nigeria failed to secure an automatic qualification spot for the 2026 World Cup, losing it to South Africa.

The Super Eagles had an opportunity to qualify through the African playoffs held in Morocco but were eliminated by DR Congo in the final after a penalty shootout. Motsepe acknowledged the significant contributions of Nigeria and Cameroon in enhancing Africa's reputation on the global football stage.

He emphasized his commitment to ensuring that more African nations qualify for future World Cups, stating, “I am happy for Nigeria and Cameroon. Nigeria did not make the World Cup, and I keep telling people that a World Cup for me without Nigeria, Cameroon, and many others is incomplete because Nigerians and Cameroonians have all made us proud.”.
