Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu's "Wrestling" Remarks

Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, criticized President Bola Tinubu following Tinubu's statement about being ready to "wrestle his opponents to the finish." Atiku urged Tinubu to stop what he termed political grandstanding and instead address Nigeria's pressing economic and security challenges. In a statement released on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku described Tinubu as "a drowning man" attempting to distract the public from his administration's failures.

He emphasized that the president should focus on issues like inflation, food insecurity, unemployment, and insecurity rather than threatening political opponents. Atiku argued that the president's biggest challenge is his own administration's performance, stating that every unpaid worker and struggling business is a testament to this.

He criticized the combative rhetoric used in response to a call for credible elections from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, suggesting that it reflected a lack of humility and statesmanship.
