Xi Jinping Proposes Security Framework for Middle East

On Wednesday, during discussions in Cairo, Xi Jinping, the President of China, proposed a four-point framework aimed at enhancing security in the Middle East while speaking with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Xi emphasized the need for regional countries to strengthen dialogue and mutual trust, address interconnected conflicts, promote development, and reject external interference in regional affairs.

He highlighted that the Palestinian issue remains central to the broader Middle East question. Xi asserted that lasting peace and stability in the region depend on development and expressed China's readiness to cooperate with Middle Eastern nations to safeguard international shipping lanes and foster mutual trust.

He urged the international community to uphold the UN Charter, respect the sovereignty of regional countries, and support the UN's role in Middle East matters. In response, El-Sisi expressed Egypt's appreciation for China's stance and reaffirmed Cairo's commitment to de-escalation and political solutions, while also discussing the strengthening of bilateral cooperation on regional and international issues.
