YABATECH Certifies 34 Global Rankers for Visibility Boost

Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) has successfully certified 34 staff members as global rankers to enhance its international visibility. This initiative is part of a drive to achieve world-class academic standards and improve the institution's global ranking.

The six-week intensive capacity-building program, themed "Mastering University Rankings," was coordinated by Emeritus Professor Peter Okebukola and facilitated by the college's Human Resource Development Centre, led by Dr. Moruf Adebakin.

The training included participation in the KEI Global Rank System and covered various international ranking platforms. Adebakin noted that YABATECH ranks among the top-performing institutions in the program, with 18 participants graduating with distinctions.

He emphasized the significant gap in global academic visibility for Nigerian polytechnics, as none currently rank prominently on major international platforms. The college plans to establish a global ranking committee to develop strategies for meeting international ranking requirements and aims to compete favorably among top African institutions within two years.
