Ugo Nwokolo Claims Yahoo Fraud Aids Nigeria's Economy

Nollywood actor Ugo Nwokolo has sparked controversy by stating that internet fraud, commonly referred to as Yahoo, has contributed to keeping Nigeria's economy afloat during challenging economic times. In a video discussion, he highlighted the struggles of civil servants, whose monthly salaries range from N50,000 to N90,000, making it nearly impossible to afford the exorbitant rents in cities like Abuja and Lagos, where two-bedroom apartments can cost between N7 million and N8 million.

Nwokolo expressed that only wealthy individuals, including fraudsters, seem capable of affording such expenses. He clarified that while he does not endorse criminal activities, he believes that internet fraud has inadvertently stimulated economic activity as many Nigerians face severe financial hardships.

He questioned how low-income earners could survive in the current economic climate, emphasizing the dire situation faced by civil servants.
