Yiaga Africa Deploys 272 Observers for Ekiti Election

Yiaga Africa is set to deploy 272 election observers for the governorship election in Ekiti State scheduled for June 20. The deployment includes 250 stationary observers assigned to specific polling units and 22 roving observers who will monitor various locations throughout the election day.

Safiya Bichi, the head of knowledge management at Yiaga Africa, announced this initiative during a civil society organization media roundtable in Ado Ekiti. The observers will monitor the electoral process, including the collection and tabulation of results.

Yiaga Africa emphasizes the importance of ensuring access for women, youth, and persons with disabilities at polling units. The organization aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders and identify critical areas requiring intervention ahead of the elections.

Bichi urged political parties and candidates to conduct their campaigns peacefully and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to maintain professionalism to ensure a credible electoral process.
