Yobe Deputy Governor Advocates Unity Beyond Ramadan

On Friday, during the Eid el-Fitr prayer marking the end of Ramadan, Alh. Idi Bard Gubana, the Deputy Governor of Yobe State, called on Nigerians to maintain the virtues of love, sacrifice, and tolerance beyond the holy month.

He emphasized the essential values of national unity and development while representing Governor Mai Mala Buni at the Yobe Mosque Islamic Center in Damaturu. Gubana urged Muslims to continue praying for the nation's leaders, including the President and public office holders, and appealed to citizens to embrace the country's ethnic and religious diversity as a unifying force rather than a source of division.

He highlighted that fasting during Ramadan is a fundamental pillar of Islam, designed to draw believers closer to Allah through sincere self-restraint. Gubana reminded Muslims that the lessons of Ramadan should extend beyond fasting, demonstrating moral uprightness towards others, and underscored the importance of Sadaqat al-Fitr, the obligatory charity given at the conclusion of Ramadan.
