Yobe Police Launch Crackdown on Unregistered Vehicles

The Yobe State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner Usman Kafani Jibrin, has commenced a crackdown on unregistered vehicles and the possession of dangerous weapons. This initiative is part of a strategic security measure aimed at addressing emerging threats, particularly during the farming season.

The directive, announced by the police public relations officer, SP Dungu Abdulkarim, emphasizes the importance of proactive measures to prevent conflicts, especially in light of farmer-herder disputes and youth unrest. The police have been instructed to intensify community engagement and intelligence gathering, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure peaceful coexistence among residents.

Jibrin has also directed the police to impound vehicles operating without registration plates and to intensify efforts to curb the movement of dangerous weapons, including cutlasses and bows. Furthermore, the Commissioner has warned officers against interfering in civil matters and stressed the importance of respecting human rights in their operations.
