Yobe State Produces 10 Million Livestock Annually

On Saturday, Governor Mai Mala Buni, represented by Agriculture Commissioner Alhaji Ali Mustapha Goniri, announced that Yobe State produces 10 million livestock annually while flagging off livestock vaccines and commissioning facilities at the Livestock Service Centre in Jakusko Local Government Area. Since the establishment of the reserve in 2019, the state government has invested billions of naira in livestock infrastructure and inputs in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.

Buni emphasized the commitment to improving livestock productivity to enhance livelihoods and food security. Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, praised Yobe for its national leadership in livestock development and announced plans for a large-scale modern abattoir in Damaturu to facilitate in-state processing of meat products.

The National Coordinator of L-PRES, Dr. Sunusi Abubakar, noted the establishment of livestock service centres across Nigeria, commending Hajiya Mairo Ahmed Amshi for her support in Yobe.
