Yobe State Expands Health Insurance and Facilities

The Yobe State Government, under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni, is significantly expanding access to quality and affordable healthcare. Dr.

Moham Goje, the Secretary to the State Government, disclosed in an exclusive interview that the administration has prioritized healthcare since assuming office in 2019. Key initiatives include the establishment of the Yobe State Health Care Management Agency, which aims to transform healthcare delivery and finance.

The government has paid health insurance premiums for thousands of vulnerable residents, enabling them to access medical services without financial hardship. The health insurance program covers a broad range of services, allowing beneficiaries to receive treatment at accredited facilities.

Additionally, the administration has upgraded nearly six general hospitals and several primary healthcare centers to improve access to specialist services. These investments are designed to enhance healthcare delivery, particularly in maternal and child health, and reduce the need for patients to travel outside their communities for specialized treatment.
