Yobe State Launches 2026 Spelling Bee Competition

The 2026 Yobe Spelling Bee 3.0 Competition was officially opened by Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, who emphasized his administration's commitment to fostering academic excellence and nurturing young talents. The event, themed “Building Champions Through Knowledge, Inspiring Excellence for a Brighter Yobe State,” took place at the North East Development Commission (NEDC) Hall, Government Girls Unity College, Damaturu.

Governor Buni, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, announced that the competition features participation from 73 schools across all 17 local government areas of Yobe State. The competition is set to last for three days, focusing on academic competition, intellectual discovery, and celebrating excellence.

Governor Buni stated that the initiative aims to encourage students to develop strong language skills, broaden their vocabulary, and cultivate a culture of learning, discipline, and healthy academic competition, ensuring that talent is discovered and supported regardless of location, background, or educational circumstance.
