Presidency Accuses Atiku Abubakar of Integrity Issues

The Presidency, represented by Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, accused Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, of taking Nigerians for buffoons. This statement followed allegations that Atiku received a $500,000 bribe related to the Mambilla Hydro Power Project.

Onanuga labeled Atiku as the ‘Diverter-in-Chief’ for avoiding questions about his integrity and his indictment by the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris concerning the project. The Presidency claimed that Atiku, along with former Minister of Power Olu Agunloye, awarded the contract to Sunrise Power without the necessary authorization from the Federal Executive Council and President Olusegun Obasanjo.

It was alleged that Atiku accepted a bribe from Sunrise and its CEO, Leno Adesanya, during Tribunal hearings. The statement emphasized that a politician aspiring to lead Nigeria must address integrity issues directly rather than divert attention with unsupported allegations against the government.
