Nasri Defends Vinicius, Critiques Mourinho After UCL Clash

In a UEFA Champions League match on Tuesday, Real Madrid faced Benfica at Estadio da Luz, where Vinicius scored a stunning goal early in the second half. His celebration, however, displeased Benfica's manager, José Mourinho, who suggested that Vinicius tone down his celebrations to avoid agitating the home crowd.

Following the goal, tensions escalated when Benfica's Gianluca Prestianni allegedly directed a racist remark at Vinicius, prompting the referee to halt the game for ten minutes. Samir Nasri, a former Arsenal midfielder, defended Vinicius and criticized Mourinho for his hypocrisy, referencing Mourinho's own exuberant celebrations during his managerial career, particularly when Porto defeated Manchester United in 2004.

Nasri emphasized that Mourinho lacked the moral authority to criticize Vinicius's celebration. Ultimately, Vinicius's goal proved decisive, giving Real Madrid a narrow advantage ahead of the return leg at Santiago Bernabéu on February 25.
