Oyo APC Criticizes Makinde's UN Probe Request on Abductions

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) publicly condemned Governor Seyi Makinde's call for a United Nations investigation into the circumstances surrounding the abduction of 46 teachers and students in Oriire. In a statement issued by the party's public secretary, Olawal Sadar, the APC described Makinde's request as "shameful" and a reflection of his ineptitude and cluelessness in addressing the security challenges facing Oyo State.

The party urged the governor to be more circumspect and act like a statesman rather than politicizing the issue. The APC's statement highlighted the increasing insecurity in Oyo State, which has become one of the worst-hit areas in southern Nigeria since 2019, attributing the rise in banditry and related crimes to various factors affecting the populace.
