CJN Keker Ekun Urges Court Registrars to Uphold Ethics

During a workshop in Abuja on Monday, Chief Justice Kudirat Keker Ekun warned court registrars that their conduct significantly influences public confidence in the judiciary. She highlighted that delays, discourtesy, and opaque administration could compromise the entire judicial system's integrity.

Justice Ekun stated that contemporary society expects the judiciary to meet citizens' demands for efficiency, transparency, and accountability in dispute resolution. She stressed that court registrars must present themselves as neutral actors, free from external pressures and personal interests, and adhere strictly to ethical principles.

Furthermore, she noted the importance of safeguarding sensitive case materials and maintaining confidentiality to protect litigants' rights. Justice Babatund Adejumo, of the National Judicial Institute, described the judiciary's role as extending beyond routine duties to include ethical challenges intersecting with broader governance issues.

The workshop featured facilitators from various states, including Mr. Nnenna Onuoha from Ebonyi State and Murtala Halidu from Kaduna State, among others.
