Youth Party Elects New Leaders, Targets 2027 Elections

The Youth Party convened in Abuja on a Saturday to elect new national leaders and outline its ambitions for the 2027 general elections, aiming for at least 10 legislative seats. Delegates from across Nigeria ratified decisions made by the National Executive Committee (NEC) during the convention held at Wetland Hotel.

Abdulrahman Abubakar from Niger State was elected as the national chairman, with Sadiq Abu from Ogun State as the deputy national chairman. Other key appointments included Sope Durodola as the national financial secretary and Helen Adoh as the national secretary.

Abubakar pledged to lead with transparency and accountability, reaffirming the party's commitment to inclusivity and grassroots development. He acknowledged challenges such as funding and community mobilization but outlined five immediate priorities for the new leadership.

The convention was marked by a call for free and fair primaries and a review of the party's constitution, with a focus on promoting youth-led democracy and addressing long-term projects.
