ADC Chieftain Urges INEC Chairman to Resign

Joemartin Uzodik, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has launched a strong attack on the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, accusing him of failing Nigerians even before the elections.

Uzodik called for Amupitan's resignation, citing poor judgment in managing party leadership issues, particularly following INEC's decision to withdraw recognition from the Senate leadership of David Mark. He described this move as shocking and unbecoming for an electoral body expected to remain neutral.

Uzodik criticized Amupitan's interpretation of a court order, alleging it misled and disappointed many, and claimed that INEC's actions contradict legal principles, creating confusion within the ADC. He warned that such actions could weaken opposition parties and undermine Nigeria's democratic system.

Uzodik also noted that Amupitan's demeanor during a recent television appearance suggested external pressure, questioning his ability to act independently. He concluded by urging INEC leadership to focus on strengthening democratic institutions.
