Peter Obi Congratulates Adeleke on Osun Victory

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general election, congratulated Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the recent Osun State governorship election. In a statement posted on his X handle, Obi described the election outcome as an “important democratic victory,” highlighting that the people of Osun demonstrated their power through the ballot.

He commended Adeleke for earning the electorate's renewed confidence due to his commitment and achievements during his first term. Obi particularly praised the youths of Osun for their peaceful defense of their democratic mandate, asserting that democracy thrives when citizens are vigilant.

He called on Nigerians to remain informed and actively participate in elections, emphasizing that they have the power to effect change through their votes. Obi also urged political actors to prioritize the interests of Nigerians and to conduct elections as contests of ideas rather than violence.

Prior to the election, he had called on the Independent National Electoral Commission and other stakeholders to ensure a credible process.
