Eight NNPP Lawmakers Defect to APC in Kano State

On Tuesday, eight lawmakers elected on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a significant political shift in Kano State. The announcement was made by the governor of Kano State, Yusuf, through a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin Tofa, on Wednesday.

The defecting lawmakers, including Tijjani Abdulkadir, Jobe Garba, Ibrahim Diso, Hassan Shehu, Hussain Idri, Dankawu Muhammad, Chiroma Nalaraba, and Rabiu Yusuf, attributed their decision to ongoing internal crises within the NNPP. The event was attended by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and former national chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Governor Yusuf described the defections as part of the democratic process and emphasized the need for unity and cooperation among elected representatives, regardless of party affiliation, to ensure the overall development and welfare of the citizens of Kano State.
