Zacch Adedeji Defends Tinubu's Economic Reforms

Dr. Zacch Adedeji, the executive chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), responded to questions regarding the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu during an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Channels TV. He was questioned about why the "common man" was not yet benefiting from these reforms despite improvements in macro-economic indices.

Adedeji highlighted several benefits attributed to the reforms, including the doubling of the minimum wage, increased allocations to the 36 states and 774 local government areas, and the fiscal turnaround that has enabled timely salary payments and settlement of arrears. He emphasized that millions of students are benefiting from NELFUND and that jobs have been created through increased infrastructure spending.

Adedeji challenged the notion that the "common man" is not benefiting, questioning if those engaged in construction projects and other sectors are not part of this demographic. He defended the economic reforms against claims of "voodoo economics," asserting that while reforms come with hardship, they are necessary for economic stability.
