Zamfara Allocates N1.3bn for 2026 WAEC/NECO Exams

The Zamfara State Government has announced a budget allocation of N1.3 billion to sponsor 20,000 students for the 2026 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations. Alhaji Wadatau Madawaki, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, disclosed this during the launch of a biometric data capture initiative aimed at building a reliable educational database.

This initiative is designed to enhance transparency and ensure accountability in the sponsorship of the examinations. The Zamfara State Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA), under the leadership of Executive Secretary Habib Gajam, will collaborate with the Ministry of Education to capture accurate data on students.

The state government has committed to improving the educational sector and ensuring efficient management of resources allocated for educational purposes.
