Zamfara Assembly Suspends Two LG Chairmen for Misconduct

On Wednesday, the Zamfara State House of Assembly announced the suspension of two local government chairmen: Hon. Umar Faru of Bukuyum and Hon.

Mannir Muazu Haidara of Kaura Namoda. This decision was made following allegations of financial misconduct and disrespect towards the assembly's leadership, led by Governor Dauda Lawal.

The announcement was made by Speaker Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki.

The assembly tasked the deputy chairmen to oversee the local governments during the investigation into these allegations. The suspension was prompted by a report from the assembly's committee on local government and chieftaincy affairs, which highlighted various alleged wrongdoings.

Additionally, the Bukuyum local government chairman faced suspension for publicly resisting the governor's leadership and the All Progressives Congress (APC) until the state and federal governments demonstrate a commitment to restoring peace in the area.
