Zamfara Governor Hosts Super Eagles Coach Ric Chell to Boost Youth Sports Development

Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal welcomed Super Eagles head coach Ric Chell to discuss leveraging sports for youth engagement and state development. Chell, who recently guided Nigeria to a third-place finish in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, is open to remaining in Nigeria.

The meeting aimed to support Zamfara State's sports development, focusing on upgrading stadiums and engaging youth in various sports activities. Governor Lawal highlighted the nearing completion of the Sardauna Memorial Stadium, emphasizing its role in youth empowerment.

Nigerian Football Federation President Ibrahim Gusau was also present during the discussions. Chell's initial two-year contract as the Super Eagles head coach runs until the end of the year.

The meeting underscored the importance of investing in sports infrastructure across the state to nurture local talent and boost sports development.
