Zamfara Police Arrest Bandit Kingpin, Seize Weapons

On April 29, 2026, the Zamfara State Police Command arrested bandit kingpin Audu Maikano in Dan Makulu Village, Banga District, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area. The arrest was made following credible intelligence regarding a notorious armed bandit syndicate operating in the area, which has been terrorizing innocent citizens, particularly along feeder roads between Kaura Namoda and Kasuwar Daji.

The police recovered significant exhibits from the suspect, including an AK-47 rifle, 10 rounds of live ammunition, 14 locally made dane guns, a local made pistol, 11 cutlasses, an axe, a jackknife, two black boots, a set of camouflage uniform, 10 GSM handsets of different types, and 6 cartridges for a pump-action gun. The operation was led by a combined team of police personnel and military operatives.

DSP Yazid Abubakar confirmed that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate and ensure prosecution. Additionally, the command has made other arrests related to theft and recovered stolen motorcycles.
