Zulum Advocates for Stronger UN Collaboration in Borno

On Thursday, Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, hosted the fourth Project Board Meeting of the United Nations Offer to Support the Borno Model and the Steering Committee Meeting of the Peacebuilding Fund at the Council Chambers of the Government House in Maiduguri. He urged for stronger collaboration and co-investment among the state government, Federal Government, United Nations, Development Partners, International Financial Institutions, and the private sector to accelerate recovery and sustainable development in Borno.

Zulum highlighted the strategic importance of Borno in national and international peacebuilding efforts and commended the support from the United Nations and donor countries. He noted that the Peacebuilding Fund and UN Offer have shifted focus from immediate humanitarian relief to areas like reconciliation and social cohesion.

Zulum identified key priorities for the state, including rebuilding communities, restoring services, and investing in agriculture and vocational training, asserting that with proper investment, Borno could transform into an economic opportunity center in the North-East.
