Zulum Seeks AfDB Partnership for Borno's Recovery

Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, requested a stronger partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) to accelerate the state’s post-conflict recovery and promote sustainable economic growth. Zulum led a high-level delegation to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, where he met with AfDB President, Dr. Sidi Ould Tah.

The discussions aimed to strengthen investment partnerships and deepen the relationship between Borno State and the AfDB. Since Ould Tah's assumption of office on September 1, 2025, he has visited Maiduguri twice, showcasing solidarity with the state.

Zulum emphasized the need for collaboration with development partners to achieve economic resilience. The talks covered high-impact investments in various sectors, including climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy, and healthcare.

The governor highlighted the economic potential of the Lake Chad Basin and the importance of private-sector investment through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs). The engagement aims to attract investment, create sustainable employment, and improve the wellbeing of Borno residents.
