Flight FC Claims 3-1 Comeback Win Over NYSC in NLO Opener

In the opening match of the 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) season, Flight FC of Gboko triumphed over NYSC with a 3-1 comeback victory at McCarthy Stadium in Makurdi. The match, which kicked off at 4 PM, saw Flight FC dominate possession in the first half but fail to capitalize on opportunities.

A significant turning point occurred in the 26th minute when a NYSC defender was sent off, yet Flight FC could not convert a resulting free kick. NYSC stunned the home crowd by taking the lead in the 42nd minute through Terngu Benjamin, who scored the first goal of the 2026 NLO season.

In the second half, Flight FC increased pressure and equalized in the 68th minute with a goal from Akas Tiza. Just two minutes later, Sesugh Bund scored to give Flight FC the lead, followed by a third goal from Datso Jacob in the 88th minute, sealing a deserved victory.
