Fire at Odisha Hospital Claims Lives of 10 Patients

On Monday, a fire broke out in the trauma care unit of SCB Medical College Hospital located in Cuttack, Odisha, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least 10 critically ill patients. The fire was reportedly caused by a short circuit on the first floor of the hospital.

At the time of the incident, there were 23 patients in the trauma ICU ward, and the blaze ultimately claimed the lives of ten individuals. Additionally, at least 11 staff members suffered burn injuries while attempting to rescue patients.

Odisha's Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, confirmed the details of the incident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep condolences on social media and announced compensation of 2 million rupees for the families affected.
