Building Collapse in Kano: 13 Rescued, 16 Injured

On Saturday morning, a residential building collapsed in the Dan Dishe area of Kwanar Yashi, Fagge Local Government Area, Kano State, resulting in 16 injuries. The Kano State Fire Service received a distress call at approximately 4:32 am and mobilized personnel to the scene.

According to Public Relations Officer Saminu Abdullahi, the collapsed structure measured about 20 by 30 feet. Thirteen individuals were rescued from the rubble, with 10 found alive and three unconscious.

The survivors included Al-Mustapha Yusuf (15), Khadija Yusuf (seven), Ummusalama Yusuf (10), Madina Yusuf (six), and Hafsat Yusuf (nine). The unconscious victims were identified as Affan Yusuf (five), Hassana Yusuf (seven), and Ummulkursum Yusuf (nine months).

The victims were handed over to Usman Ibrahim, their father's brother, for further care. The cause of the collapse remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing.

The fire service urged residents to report signs of structural weakness to prevent future incidents.
