Gunmen Kill 15 in Benue Community Attack

On Wednesday, a violent attack by gunmen in Mbajir Ward, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State resulted in the deaths of at least 15 individuals and left many others injured. The assault, attributed to suspected terrorist masquerading as herdsmen, prompted a swift response from Governor Hyacinth Alia.

He condemned the attack, labeling it a senseless assault on innocent citizens, particularly alarming as it occurred during the farming season when residents were returning to their ancestral lands to cultivate crops. In response to the violence, Governor Alia ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to the affected community and initiated a manhunt to apprehend those responsible.

He assured security agencies of their commitment to ensuring the safety of farmers and preventing further attacks in the agricultural community. The governor extended his condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery, urging residents to remain calm and vigilant against suspicious activities.
