15 Political Parties Participate in Bauchi LG Elections

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) reported that fifteen political parties participated in the 2026 Bauchi State local government elections, countering claims that some parties had boycotted the election. Auwal Isa, the IPAC chairman in Bauchi and also the Bauchi State Chairman of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), stated that out of the 22 registered parties, 16 participated, leaving six to boycott, which he affirmed was their right.

Isa commended the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) for adhering to due process in organizing the elections and praised voters for their participation, emphasizing its importance in democracy. Khalid Hassan Arewa, the Secretary of IPAC, expressed satisfaction with the election's conduct, noting that the electoral process was compliant with relevant laws, which require at least three registered parties to proceed.

He expressed confidence that some participating parties would secure seats in their strongholds across Bauchi State.
