UK Travellers Face New Entry Rules for Nigeria in 2026

British nationals planning to travel to Nigeria in 2026 must adhere to specific entry requirements as outlined by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). Two primary reasons for potential denial of entry include arriving with an invalid travel document and lacking a valid visa.

A British passport must have an expiry date at least six months beyond the date of arrival; otherwise, entry will be denied. Additionally, British citizens must possess a valid visa before boarding their flight to Nigeria, as visa on arrival has been abolished.

All visa applications must now be submitted online prior to departure. Other requirements include a compulsory yellow fever vaccination certificate, with exemptions for infants aged eight months or younger and adults aged 61 or older.

Travellers must also complete an online Nigeria Health Declaration Form and may need to present landing and departure cards at the airport. Strict customs regulations govern what can be brought into or taken out of Nigeria.
