FG Confirms No Extra Passport Fees for Nigerians in UK

The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a clarification regarding passport fees for Nigerians residing in the United Kingdom. According to a statement from Alao Babatunde, the Special Adviser to the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, applicants participating in the ongoing special intervention exercise will not face any additional charges.

The government emphasized that the only fees required are the approved amounts of $150 for a five-year passport and $230 for a ten-year passport, excluding bank charges. The initiative aims to facilitate easier passport processing for Nigerians in the UK without imposing new fees.

Furthermore, the Minister acknowledged the complaints from applicants regarding challenges faced during the application and processing stages. The Ministry of Interior is collaborating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address these issues and enhance the overall process.

The Federal Government remains committed to improving passport services for Nigerians both domestically and internationally.
