20-Year-Old Allegedly Nailed on Head Over Chicken Theft in Zaria, Kaduna

In Zaria, Kaduna State, a 20-year-old man named Aliyu Nuhu was reportedly hammered with a five-inch nail on his head by vigilant members who accused him of stealing chickens. Aliyu's father, Mallam Salisu Nuhu, known as Baband, stated that his son was asked to sell the chickens in the market but was arrested by the vigilantes.

The family spent N800,000 on medical bills for the surgical removal of the nail at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) in Shika. Nuhu Dan Banga, the person who hammered the nail during interrogation, lost consciousness due to torture.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Zaria City Division, Nura Abubakar, assured that the suspects would be prosecuted once investigations are completed.
