NPA Targets N1.489 Trillion Revenue in 2026 Budget

The Nigerian Port Authority (NPA), led by Managing Director Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, has set a revenue target of N1.489 trillion for the 2026 fiscal year, representing an increase of N21 billion from the previous year's target of N1.468 trillion, which was not met.

The budget proposal includes N945 billion for capital projects, N447.5 billion for operational expenses, and N90.6 billion for remittances to the Consolidated Revenue Fund. The modernization of the Apapa and Tin Island ports is identified as a flagship project to improve revenue generation, as these ports are outdated and unable to accommodate modern vessels.

The modernization project is expected to commence within two to three weeks. Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun emphasized the Senate's oversight role to strengthen the NPA and eliminate inefficiencies, ensuring that every naira appropriated serves the public interest.
