Gusau/Ahlan Pre-Season Tournament Set for August 2026

The Gusau/Ahlan pre-season tournament is scheduled to kick off on August 7, 2026, at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, Katsina State. Organized by Alhaji Abahuraira Dahiru, the tournament has become a prestigious annual event in Nigerian football, running for ten days and expected to attract leading football clubs to prepare for the 2026/2027 domestic season.

Sixteen clubs from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and Nigeria National League (NNL) have already expressed interest in participating. Dahiru emphasized the tournament's role in promoting talent development, fostering healthy competition, and allowing coaches to assess new players and tactics.

The local organizing committee, chaired by Alhaji Sabo Abdullahi, is committed to ensuring a successful event, with support from the Katsina State government under Governor Dikko Umar Radda. The tournament, which began six years ago, aims to enhance football development across Nigeria and strengthen grassroots support.
