ZLP Warns Political Violence May Undermine Osun Election

Olufemi Adesuyi, a representative of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), expressed grave concerns regarding the increasing wave of political violence in Osun State, which he warned could jeopardize the credibility of the gubernatorial election set for August 15. In a statement made on Thursday, Adesuyi condemned the killings occurring in the state, emphasizing that no political ambition is worth the blood of citizens.

He described the situation as worrisome, stating that unchecked violence threatens the peace and democratic values of Osun State. Adesuyi called for a decorous campaign environment where politicians respect their opponents and allow the electorate to make free choices.

He appealed to politicians to conduct themselves peacefully, prioritizing the interests of Osun over political rivalry. Additionally, he urged the Nigeria Police Force and security agencies to take proactive measures to prevent further breakdowns of law and order in the state.
