APC Chieftain Calls for Peace Ahead of Osun Election

Ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a former member of the Osun State House of Assembly and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), called on political parties and their supporters to reject violence and promote peaceful conduct. In a statement issued in Osogbo, Oyintiloye, who previously represented the Obokun state constituency, expressed concern that the current political climate could deter residents from participating in the electoral process.

He urged eligible voters not to be intimidated by fears of violence and to participate actively in the election. Oyintiloye reassured residents regarding the deployment of security personnel, stating it is a standard procedure for major elections and should provide a sense of safety.

He condemned reports of political violence and called for investigations into such incidents, emphasizing that respect for the rule of law is crucial for maintaining peace during the electoral process.
