Nigeria's Para Badminton Team Wins 14 Medals in Uganda

At the 2026 Uganda Para Badminton International Championship held from July 7 to July 12, 2026, Nigeria's para badminton team achieved remarkable success, winning a total of 14 medals, comprising nine gold and five silver. Lyka Brown claimed gold in the WH1 women's singles, while her partner Chukwuemeka Ijeoma Gift secured gold in the WH1-WH2 women's doubles and emerged victorious in the WH2 women's singles.

Emmanuel Ifeanacho Ohaeri won gold in the WH2 men's singles, and together with Ekeoma Samuel, they earned silver in the WH1-WH2 men's doubles. Other notable achievements included Obinna Precious Nwosu winning gold in the SL3 men's singles and Eneojo Elijah Agada capturing gold in the singles event.

The Badminton Federation of Nigeria, led by Franci Orbih, praised the athletes' performances, stating it enhances the country's profile in future continental and global competitions. The federation also expressed gratitude to sponsors, including the Abia State Government and Bayelsa State Government.
