ADC Demands Prosecution of Kuje Chairman Over Threats

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of Samuel Shekwolo, the Chairman of Kuje Area Council, for allegedly declaring that residents must support the All Progressives Congress (APC) or leave the area. The ADC's National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, stated that Shekwolo's remarks constitute a threat of forced displacement and violate citizens' constitutional rights.

The ADC also called for an investigation into comments made by APC Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who allegedly threatened that those not voting for the APC in the Osun governorship election should be “killed.” The ADC emphasized that such statements could encourage further political violence and intimidation. They noted that Fadahunsi had previously been questioned by police regarding his threats but was released without charges.

The ADC linked these incidents to a statement made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, suggesting a permissive attitude toward political threats.
